GLAUCONITE CONTENT IN THE PALEOGENE DEPOSITS OF SOUTHERN KAZAKHSTAN

The article considers the glauconite - bearing nature of the Paleogene deposits in the Syr Darya Depression. It summarizes the results of a comprehensive study of the material composition and formation conditions of glauconitic sandstones associated with th e Paleogene strata of the depression. The patterns of spatial and stratigraphic distribution of productive glauconite horizons are described. Consequently, a sedimentation cycle of the Paleocene and Eocene periods is identified, reflecting the evolutionary trends of the Paleogene sedimentary basin in the study area. These findings provide a foundation for a new predictive strategy in the exploration of promising glauconite occurrences and deposits.
