Abstract

This article examines three plant communities formed by the endemic species Jurinea kirghisorum Janisch. (included in the Green Book of the West Kazakhstan Region). Floristic, biomorphological, ecological, and geographical analyses of the communities were conducted, and the economic plant groups were identified. The results revealed the dominance of the families Poaceae, Asteraceae, and Chenopodiaceae within the studied communities. Among life forms, perennial polycarpic plants prevail, while xerophytes dominate among ecological groups. The dominant species of the studied communities is Jurinea kirghisorum, which belongs to the family Asteraceae and the genus Jurinea. It was established that this species is a calciphilous xerophyte growing on open clay–carbonate slopes with chalk outcrops. A high sensitivity of the species to changes in environmental conditions was noted, as well as the risk of population decline under anthropogenic pressure, particularly due to livestock grazing. The study concludes that regular monitoring of populations of the dominant species and the conservation of its natural habitats are necessary to ensure the protection of the species and its associated plant communities.
