Abstract

The article examines the features of stand-up comedy as a form of public communication, located at the intersection of mass and interpersonal communication. The authors consider the features of the use of humor in stand-up, the influence of improvisation on the perception of the audience, the role of gender stereotypes in creating a comic effect, as well as the ability of stand-up comedy to serve as a platform for social criticism and the formation of public opinion. The specific features of the interaction of the comedian with the audience, the role of humor in the communication process, as well as the use of gender stereotypes in stand-ups are studied. It is analyzed how stand-up comedians through improvisation, self-irony and provocation establish contact with the audience, form public opinion and stimulate social discussions. Particular attention is paid to identifying the unique characteristics of the performances of two Kazakhstani stand-up comedians – Aina Musina and Galim Kaliakbarov – and comparing their work
