Abstract

The article-review of the book by Artur Nygmet «Confrontation in Uralsk» points out numerous semantic and linguistic errors and shortcomings with a logical conclusion about the advisability of a linguistic examination of its content for subsequent legal assessment. Two main methods of analysis were used: retrospective and comparative. It was established that the author of the book, which claims to have historical significance, made many mistakes in assessing the activities of both individual civil servants and state bodies of Kazakhstan as a whole. The combination of errors contributes to the formation of a distorted idea among the readership about the role and importance of government bodies at turning points in the history of Kazakhstan. The results of the study indicate the need for a more objective assessment of historical events, as well as a competent approach to covering past events that does not allow amateurs to distort such concepts as «freedom of speech» and «civic responsibility».
