Abstract

Abstract. This article presents the results of a pedagogical experiment on the approbation of an adapted Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model aimed at forming meta-subject competencies in 8th-grade students of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (NIS) during art lessons. A 6-week quasi-experimental study involving control and experimental groups was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a cyclical, iterative PjBL model using pre- and post-testing. The data obtained demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in the level of meta-subject competencies among students in the experimental group. The study confirms that the proposed model facilitates students' transition from a reproductive level of competency to constructive and creative levels. Thus, the adapted PjBL model is an effective tool for developing higher-order skills within the educational context of Kazakhstan.
