SYMBOLISM OF THE MOON IN THE NOVEL «THE MOON AND AISHA» BY SH. MURTAZA

Abstract

Annotation. This article is devoted to the study of the extratextual element of the Moon in the novel AY MEN AYSHA / THE MOON AND AYSHA by Sherkhan Murtaza, focusing on its symbolic function and mythopoetic significance. The main emphasis is placed on the connection between the image of the Moon and the mythological worldview of the Kazakh people, rooted in the common Turkic tradition. The textual analysis reveals that the Moon serves not only as an atmospheric detail that creates an emotional background, but also as a symbol imbued with sacred meaning, reflecting the cyclical perception of time and existence. Particular attention is paid to the comparison between mythological conceptions of the Moon and its artistic representation in the novel. The symbolism of the Moon is interpreted as a tool for expressing national identity, the inner world of the characters, and deep cultural codes. The findings may be useful for further research on the mythopoetics of Turkic literature.
